APC, NNPP Win One Constituency Each in Kano Bye-Election

The two major political parties in Kano State, the All Progressives Congress (APC) and the ruling New Nigeria Peoples Party (NNPP), have each secured a seat in the just concluded State House of Assembly bys-elections in different constituencies.
The Returning Officer, Prof. Muhammad Waziri of Bayero University, representing the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC), declared Garba Ya’u Gwarmai of the All Progressives Congress (APC) the winner in the Ghari/Tsanyawa constituency.
Gwarmai secured 31,472 votes, defeating his closest rival, Yusuf Ali Maigado of the New Nigeria Peoples Party (NNPP), who garnered 27,931 votes.
However, the INEC Returning Officer at the poll, Adamu Shitu announced the result for Bagwai/Shanono state constituency by-election in Kano, gave victory to Ali Hassan Kiyawa of the NNPP.
Shitu announced that Kiyawa, polled 16,198 votes, to defeat Ahmad Muhammad Kadamu of the All Progressives Congress (APC), who scored 5,347 votes.
The Supplementary election was necessitated by the passing of late Hon. Ali Ibrahim Kundila, the member representing the constituency in April, 2024.
