High Chief Obio Oloyejulius Launches ‘Old Secrets’ Podcast
In a compound called Ile Baba Oloke Meta in Ise-Ekiti, a young boy was unknowingly gathering material for what would become one of Nigeria’s most anticipated podcasts That boy was High Chief Obio Oloyejulius, and those childhood experiences would eventually inspire his groundbreaking podcast “Old Secrets,” premiering this Sunday, August 17th on Oloflix TV.
“Because I’m filled with a lot of old memories especially from my early years, some of which happened to me and are very funny, I know I’m not the only one who has such experiences,” Oloyejulius explains, his voice carrying the warmth of someone who has transformed personal history into purpose.
The compound that shaped him wasn’t ordinary. “The compound I grew up in was a completely dramatic place, filled with all kinds of people. There was no profession you couldn’t find there, and everyone had their own unique character and identity, singles, married couples, kids, students, and even strangers,” he recalls with obvious fondness.
It was this colorful tapestry of human experience that became Oloyejulius’ informal university. “Honestly, about 80% of the skills you see me display today were learned in that compound called Ile Baba Oloke Meta, in Ise-Ekiti,” he admits, crediting his unconventional childhood for his fearless approach to storytelling.
That fearlessness will be on full display when “Old Secrets” launches with a stellar lineup including Nkechi Blessing Sunday, Seyi Awolowo, Bimbo Thomas, and other notable personalities. But for Oloyejulius, this isn’t just entertainment, it’s therapy disguised as content.
“We don’t just prepare random questions to ask our guests questions that have nothing to do with their early life or present situation. I always carry out research on each of my guests before we prepare the questions for them,” he explains, revealing the thoughtful preparation behind what might seem like casual conversation.
The compound kid who once learned life’s lessons through keyholes and conversations has grown into a media entrepreneur who understands that everyone has stories worth sharing. “Old Secrets” represents his belief that our past experiences, no matter how embarrassing or shocking, connect us rather than divide us.
