Ekiti Community, Family Mourn Monarch’s Passage, Pay Tributes

A frontline traditional ruler and the Alara of Aramoko Ekiti in Ekiti State, Oba Olu Adegoke Adeyemi, Arugbajoye II, has joined his ancestors.

A statement from his family on Saturday stated that Oba Adeyemi passed away peacefully on Friday.

The family, while paying tributes to the deceased monarch’s remarkable leadership, wisdom, and dedication to the welfare of his people, stated that “Oba Adeyemi’s impact on the community will forever be cherished as testament to his enduring legacies”.

The late traditional ruler, who was born on December 4, 1942, was a teacher, Permanent Secretary in various ministries in old Ondo State, and Sole Administrator of the former Ifesowapo Local Government area of the old Ondo State before ascending to the throne in 2009. He was Chancellor of Ekiti State University, Ado Ekiti.

The family stated that the late Oba Adeyemi would be remembered for his numerous significant contributions to the Aramoko Ekiti community during his reign in aspects including leadership and governance, education advocacy, community development, cultural preservation, conflict resolution, and youth empowerment.
According to the family’s statement, Oba Adeyemi’s significant contributions to the Aramoko Ekiti community included his leadership in governance. “As the Alara of Aramoko Ekiti, he provided strong leadership that fostered community cohesion and development.”

The statement also acknowledges his footprint in the education sector, saying his commitment to education was evident during his tenure as Chancellor of Ekiti State University. “He supported initiatives to enhance educational standards and access for local students,” the statement added.
