BBNaija S10: Tears, Fights, Ships in Biggie’s House of Commotion

Vanessa Obioha

It’s been just one week since Big Brother Naija 10th season started but the house is already on fire. The double pre-launch shows saw 29 housemates — 15 females and 14 males — enter the newly upgraded Big Brother’s house for a chance to win the N150 million grand prize. With that many personalities under one roof, we knew sparks would fly. What no one expected was that the gbasgbos would start almost immediately.

From food fights to premium tears to bullying accusations, this 10/10 season is off to a fiery start. Viewers are already applauding the organisers for their casting choices, especially after last season failed to really catch fire.

Being a 10/10 season, the organisers really took their time to ensure that the selected housemates would be entertaining. Some housemates are already reminding fans of familiar faces. Isabella, the model with seductive flair, has been giving Mercy Eke vibes. Meanwhile, Otega’s authoritative stance has viewers recalling Pere from the Shine Ya Eye season.

The Teary Ones

With the volume of tears and fights so far, the house is fast turning into a battlefield of emotions. Take Koyin, for instance. The you≠≠≠ng housemate has already cried more than once,  most memorably during a shouting match with Kaybobo, who teased him about whether his father owned Lagos. That little jab set off Koyin’s emotional fireworks, leaving him in tears and earning him the “soft guy” tag from viewers. But lately, his attitude suggests there may be more steel in him than people first thought. Interestingly, Kaybobo, the so-called gentle giant, wasn’t spared either; he, too, broke down when Mensan accused him of bullying.

Speaking of Mensan, he has lived up to his “parrot” reputation. Loud, mischievous, and constantly stirring the pot, he and Denari are already tagged as troublemakers by some housemates. Denari nearly went head-to-head with Otega over chicken after the pool party — yes, chicken.

The ladies, too, have had their fair share of moments. From Tracy to Gigi, many are seeking constant reassurance,  wanting to know they’re playing the game right and not getting lost in the mix.

Is Imisi the Culprit?

There seems to be a mystery “saboteur” in the house. From painted shoes to stained clothes, housemates are pointing fingers at Imisi.  On Thursday, things boiled over when Sultana told her off as she tried to get something to cook. As if that was not enough, Rooboy clashed with her over an unwashed pot.

What followed was a shouting match that had Imisi switching accents. Somehow, Koyin embedded himself in the fight and took it to another level with Imisi threatening to stab him while Gigi Jasmine yelled in the background that they’d tolerated her enough. Big Brother had to step in and summon Imisi to the Diary Room.

Jason Jae Holding it Down

Amid all the chaos, Jason Jae, the first Head of House, has been the calm in the storm. His leadership style — patient, empathetic, and diplomatic — has earned him respect. Even when he almost lost it last Thursday, he still managed to keep the house under control. He deserves some flowers for that.

Unfortunately, he was unable to help the house secure a win in their first wager.

And of course, what’s BBNaija without ships? Isabella and Prince Kayikunmi seem to be warming up, although his interest in Thelma suggests he may not be ready to commit. Gigi, Jasmine, and Victory are testing the waters, Doris is playing coy, while sparks are flickering between Dede and Koyin. But with many eyes on Dede, Koyin may have a tough battle ahead.

So far, this season has come out swinging. If this is just the first week, fans may be in for a rollercoaster ride. Tonight’s live show will tell if Biggie’s script has more surprises in store.
