SANI MUSA APPOINTS COMMITTEE FOR MERIT-BASED FOREIGN SCHOLARSHIPS

As part of a far-reaching effort to promote academic excellence and global exposure among youths in Niger East Senatorial District, Distinguished Senator Mohammed Sani Musa, CON, has inaugurated the International Scholarship Selection and Implementation Committee—a strategic body tasked with administering his merit-based foreign scholarship programme.

The inauguration ceremony, held on Thursday, June 27, 2025, was conducted on the Senator’s behalf by the Chairman of his Advisory Council, Alhaji Bisalla Babasule, Sarkin Shanu of Suleja. In his remarks, Babasule congratulated the newly appointed committee members and presented their letters of appointment while delivering the Senator’s message.

He explained that the appointments were made in recognition of the members’ integrity, professionalism, and unwavering commitment to public service. He urged them to discharge their responsibilities with the highest standards of transparency and excellence, ensuring a credible selection and monitoring process.

The initiative aims to identify outstanding students from Niger East and support them to pursue academic programmes in globally ranked institutions across Europe, Asia, North America, and other regions. Senator Sani Musa’s vision, according to Babasule, is to build a generation of skilled, knowledgeable, and globally competitive citizens who will return to contribute meaningfully to Nigeria’s development.

The inaugurated committee is chaired by Hon. Ibrahim Balarabe (Rafi LGA) and comprises respected scholars and professionals drawn from all nine local government areas of the district:

The committee secretariat includes Mr. Emmanuel Makun, Mr. Okoro Ikechukwu, and Mr. Masud Balarebe.

Present at the event were key stakeholders including Alhaji Nma Kolo, Special Adviser on Political Affairs and Strategy to Governor Umaru Mohammed Bago, along with members of the Senator’s Advisory Council, project coordinators, liaison officers, and zonal representatives.

Speaking on behalf of the newly appointed committee, Chairman Ibrahim Balarabe thanked Senator Musa for the confidence reposed in them and pledged their collective commitment to ensuring a fair, rigorous, and impactful selection process. He noted that the initiative represents a critical opportunity to uplift deserving students and expand the frontiers of education in the district.

The programme is the latest in a series of bold educational interventions spearheaded by Senator Sani Musa, including scholarships, infrastructure support, digital learning initiatives, and youth empowerment schemes. The international scholarship is envisioned to be a gateway to transformative knowledge and a catalyst for long-term socio-economic development.

Senator Musa, in a statement from his media office, extended his congratulations to the committee and urged them to approach their assignment with sincerity, vision, and an unwavering focus on merit.
