Ganiyu Mustapha Becomes New Chairman of ICAN Sokoto District

The Institute of Chartered Accountants of Nigeria (ICAN) has inaugurated Alhaji Abdul Ganiyu Mustapha as the 6th Chairman of its Sokoto district society.
At the investiture ceremony, ICAN’s National President, Mallam Haruna Yahya, charged the new chairman to uphold professionalism, integrity, and national development.
Yahya, represented by the Northern Zonal Chairman, Ibrahim Alkali, commended the outgoing leadership for maintaining high standards of professionalism and upholding the institute’s values.
He enjoined the new leadership to build on this foundation by embracing innovation, enhancing digital competence, and strengthening global partnerships.
Yahya emphasised the crucial role district societies play in fostering professional excellence and community development.
The Sokoto State Government represented by Commissioner for Commerce, Trade and Industry, Haruna Abbas Bashir, who is also a member, pledged continued collaboration with ICAN, recognising the vital role chartered accountants play in economic planning, fiscal responsibility, and public trust.
Bashir assured ICAN of the government’s continued support, particularly in areas of financial literacy and MSME development.
The event featured representatives from the financial sector, academia, and the public service, and highlighted ICAN’s ongoing initiatives, including digitization of examination processes and global certification pathways
The new Chairman, AbdulGaniyu Mustapha, pledged to uphold the highest ethical standards and work tirelessly to elevate ICAN’s impact across the state.
