Special Adviser Media to the Niger State Governor Mr Jonathan Vatsa, has observed that the media in the country truncated the bid by former President Olusegun Obasanjo to remain in office beyond the 8 years allowed by the nation’s constitution.

Vatsa told newsmen in Minna on Thursday that but for the vociferous campaign mounted by the media, Obasanjo would have continued ruling the country beyond the 8-year period and the democracy the nation is enjoying today would have never materialized.

Vatsa therefore asked Nigerians and especially the political class to have confidence in the media because “they are the watch dog of the country” and play very critical roles in informing and educating the people.

“Politicians and especially Political office holders should have good relationship with the media, there should be no gap between politicians and the media,” he declared.

Vatsa solicited the support of the people for the success of Governor Mohammed Umaru Bago, insisting that “he needs your prayers for him to get funds to execute all the projects he has started”.

The Special Adviser Political to the governor, Alhaji Mohammed Nma Kolo, in his statement appreciated the people of the state for the cooperation they had been giving the administration.

“I extend my deepest gratitude to each and every one of you for the overwhelming support to our dynamic Governor Umar Mohammed Bago-led government,” Nma Kolo said, before also expressing appreciation to the people for embracing democracy.
