Akwa Ibom Indigenes in South Africa Celebrate Usoro Akpabio’s Appointment

The Akwa Ibom Indigenes Organisation South Africa (AllOSA) has extended heartfelt congratulations to Ms. Usoro Akpabio on her recent appointment as the Managing Director of the South-South Development Commission (SSDC).

In a statement signed by AllOSA President, Dr. Akaninyene, the group praised Akpabio’s elevation to the helm of the newly formed Commission, hailing it as a strategic appointment poised to spark transformative growth across Nigeria’s South-South region.

“We commend the President of the Federal Republic of Nigeria and thank President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, GCFR, for entrusting this critical leadership role to a visionary and capable daughter of our region,” the statement read.

Dr. Akaninyene described Ms. Akpabio as a proven leader whose expertise, experience, and passion for development make her exceptionally well suited for the task ahead. He expressed confidence that her appointment would bring renewed energy and direction to the Commission’s mandate of driving economic progress and social transformation across the South-South geopolitical zone.

The group also acknowledged the role played by the Senate President, Senator Godswill Akpabio, in ensuring inclusive representation at the federal level.

“We salute Senator Godswill Akpabio for his collaboration with the Akwa Ibom State Government and for facilitating the appointment of our sons and daughters into critical federal positions,” the statement added.

Reaffirming their commitment to national development and regional integration, AllOSA pledged its full support to the new SSDC Managing Director.

“We pledge our unwavering cooperation and allegiance to work collaboratively with Ms. Akpabio. We are committed to partnering with her to drive development, growth, and sustainable progress in the South-South region,” the statement emphasized.

The organisation noted that the South-South region is rich with human and natural resources and stressed that with visionary leadership, the region could serve as a cornerstone for Nigeria’s broader development agenda.

“Together, let us build a prosperous and sustainable future for our people,” the message concluded.

Ms. Usoro Akpabio’s appointment comes at a pivotal moment, as the SSDC prepares to begin its mandate of addressing infrastructural gaps, empowering communities, and coordinating federal initiatives across the oil-rich region. Her leadership is widely anticipated to bring a fresh and dynamic approach to regional development.
