Ganye, Adamawa State, came alive on Saturday, May 31st, as it hosted an array of distinguished personalities to celebrate the 25th coronation anniversary of His Royal Highness, Alhaji Umaru Adamu Sanda, the Gangwari Ganye.
The event marked a significant milestone in his reign over the historic Ganye Emirate.

The grand occasion was attended by prominent dignitaries from across Nigeria and beyond. Among them were His Excellency, General T.Y. Danjuma (Rtd.); the Vice President of Nigeria, His Excellency Kashim Shettima, represented by the Minister of Regional Development; the Executive Governor of Adamawa State, Rt. Hon. Ahmadu Umaru Fintiri, former Secretary to the Government of the Federation, Boss Mustapha; former Speaker of the House of Representatives, Yakubu Dogara; former Minister of Water Resources, Ubadia Ndor; and many other notable figures.

The event also drew a significant gathering of traditional rulers, both from within Nigeria and from across Africa. Royal fathers from Gabon, Cameroon, and Ghana joined their Nigerian counterparts in honouring the Gangwari Ganye. Among the prominent Nigerian traditional rulers in attendance were the Oneh-Eh Nchia X of Eleme Kingdom, His Royal Highness King Appolus Chu, accompanied by the traditional ruler of Akpajo, Oneh Eh Akpajo, Sunday Obo, and High Chief Samuel Nwolu. Also present were the Emir of Borgu, HRH Mohammad Haliru Dantoro; the Emir of Azara, HRH Kabiru Ibrahim Musa; and many others.

A notable highlight of the celebration was the goodwill message delivered by HRH King Dr. Appolus Chu, the Oneh-Eh Nchia X of Eleme Kingdom. He was the only traditional ruler granted the honour to speak after the Vice President and the Governor of Adamawa State. As King Chu often says, “A throne does not elevate itself; rather, it is the occupant who brings dignity and honour to it.” The honour accorded to the Gangwari Ganye during this ceremony reflects the fact that he is uplifting the Ganye Kingdom to the world map, bringing pride not only to Adamawa state but to Nigeria as a whole.

The celebration was rich with vibrant cultural displays, showcasing the elegance, tradition, and heritage of the Ganye people, leaving guests with lasting memories of unity, royalty, and African pride. One of the key moments of the day was the bestowment of Ganye’s highest traditional title upon General T.Y. Danjuma (Rtd.), who was honoured as the Gangpa’an Ganye, meaning “The Ganye’s King of Shield.”
