Zahar Founder Moyosore Bakare Rebrands, Aims for Global Fashion Footprint
Nigerian fashion designer Moyosore Bakare, known for her bold and structured style, has officially rebranded her fashion label as Zahar, transitioning from her former brand Heerabymab. Speaking on the rebranding and future plans, Moyosore emphasized her desire to make an unforgettable impact both locally and internationally in the fashion industry.
Moyosore, who began her journey sewing doll clothes with leftover fabric as a child, has since evolved into a respected designer with a growing clientele of women seeking statement fashion. Her transition from hobbyist to professional was nurtured through a youth development programme and later honed at a fashion school in Lagos.
“Zahar is in its growth phase,” she revealed. “I’m focused on expanding the brand’s reach — both locally and internationally — developing new collections, and building a strong presence in the fashion space.”
Reflecting on her evolution as a designer, Moyosore noted how her early curiosity for clothing’s transformative power eventually inspired the creation of her first brand, Heerabymab. With Zahar, she says, her vision has crystallized into one of elegance, confidence, and purpose.
“What I want is simple,” she stated. “To create unforgettable designs that make women feel powerful, confident, and effortlessly stylish.”
Moyosore’s signature style, which she describes as “bold, clean, and unforgettable,” caters to women who command attention without saying a word. Each Zahar piece is crafted to be a standout — structured, thoughtfully designed, and rich in emotional resonance.
“I draw inspiration from many places — the fabric, the client, and the emotion behind the moment — but I always make it mine,” she added. “Zahar, which means sparkle, is about making a lasting impression.”
Recalling some of the standout moments in her journey, Moyosore highlighted the emotional and creative significance of designing her sister’s wedding outfit, a turning point that deepened her confidence as a designer. Another milestone was the release of her first ready-to-wear collection, which marked a shift from custom pieces to more accessible fashion for women everywhere.
“The most fulfilling moments happen every time a woman puts on one of my designs and feels powerful,” she shared. “The way they light up, the confidence they radiate — that feeling never gets old.”
Looking ahead, Moyosore teased an upcoming project close to her heart. “One dream project I’ve always envisioned is creating a collection that truly captures the essence of the woman I design for — bold, elegant, and unforgettable. It’s more than just fashion — it’s an experience,” she said.
With Zahar, Moyosore is not just designing clothes — she’s shaping how women see themselves.
“When a woman wears my pieces,” she concluded, “I want her to feel like the most powerful version of herself — confident, unforgettable, and effortlessly stunning.”
As Zahar steps into a new era, Moyosore Bakare’s mission remains unchanged: to elevate the everyday woman into a vision of strength and style, one design at a time.
