Obieze Commends PDP Governors Forum and BOT, Reaffirms Support for Udeh-Okoye

Rt. Hon. Chima Obieze, a three-time member of the Enugu State House of Assembly and Chairman of the House Committee on Enugu Capital Territory Development Authority, has commended the PDP Governors Forum and the PDP Board of Trustees (BOT) for their unwavering commitment to restoring the party to its former glory.

As a PDP chieftain, Obieze lauded the party’s leadership for its unanimous adoption of Rt. Hon. SKE Udeh-Okoye as the National Secretary. He emphasized that this decision aligns with the rulings of both the High Court and the Court of Appeal, reaffirming the party’s dedication to upholding the rule of law and its constitution.

“The recent tussle over the National Secretary position has been a subject of intense debate, with the legal issue centering around the legitimacy of the occupant. However, with the courts’ decisions and the endorsement of the PDP Governors Forum, the matter has been laid to rest,” Obieze stated.

Highlighting the importance of a strong opposition in a democratic system, he warned against the dangers of single-party dominance, which could lead to authoritarianism, suppression of dissent, and stagnation of progressive ideas. He praised the PDP Governors Forum and BOT for their resilience against forces attempting to destabilize the party.

Obieze also extended his appreciation to the Nigerian Judiciary for upholding justice and ensuring the rule of law prevails. “Their independence and impartiality are critical to the sustenance of our democracy,” he remarked.

Addressing Rt. Hon. SKE Udeh-Okoye directly, he said, “Congratulations on your well-deserved confirmation as our National Secretary. We, the real PDP members, stand firmly behind you. We urge you to carry out your duties without fear or favor as we work together to rebuild our party and provide a credible alternative to the ruling party.”

He made this statement while addressing a cross-section of PDP Youth Leaders in Ezeagu Constituency, led by Comrade Engr. Onyeka Ofordile, the LGA Youth Leader, who paid him a solidarity visit at his office in the Enugu State House of Assembly.

“Thank you, and may God bless our great party and the Federal Republic of Nigeria,” Obieze concluded.
