New Technology Enhances Pathways to Work Initiative at BAME Mental Health Support Hub

The BAME Mental Health Support Hub is delighted to announce the arrival of four new computers and a printer, funded by the UK Government through the UK Shared Prosperity Fund and supported by Swansea Council. This significant development underscores the Hub’s commitment to empowering individuals and improving service delivery, particularly within Swansea’s diverse community.

These resources will play a vital role in the upcoming Pathways to Work event, scheduled for February 7, 2025, from 10: 00a.m to 2: 00p.m at Brangwyn Hall, Swansea.

The free event connects participants with local employers, training providers, and employment services offering jobs, internships, and meaningful volunteer opportunities.

The initiative has received additional support from Faith in Families, a Swansea-based organization renowned for helping children and families. Their generous donations further reflect the collaborative effort to address issues such as unemployment and social inequality.
The Director of BAME Mental Health Support, Alfred Oyekoya MBE, emphasized the transformative impact of this initiative: “This investment in technology is a game-changer, particularly for those navigating the challenges of job-seeking in today’s world. By bridging the digital divide, we are enabling individuals to take charge of their careers. We are immensely grateful to our partners, Swansea Council and Faith in Families, whose contributions are paving the way for a brighter future.”
A Nigerian international student Rotimi, who recently moved to Swansea, expressed his excitement about the new resources:
“As someone new to Swansea, accessing tools like these has been invaluable. These computers and the printer will make it so much easier for me to update my CV, print essential documents, and apply for jobs. This kind of support shows how much the community cares about helping people like me succeed.”

The new IT equipment will be used to support Participants, and this will enable one-on-one and group sessions, allowing participants to access online resources, update CVs, apply for jobs, and complete training modules.

  1. Enhance Event Delivery: At the Pathways to Work event, participants will benefit from on-the-spot access to tools and resources, streamlining job applications and learning opportunities.
  2. Improve Drop-in Services: Additional computers ensure efficient support during busy drop-in hours, even without prior appointments.
  3. Boost Administrative Efficiency: Empowering staff, volunteers, and participants to maximize the Hub’s facilities, improving coordination, record maintenance, and participant progress tracking.
This initiative, alongside the Pathways to Work event, is free for all attendees and organizations, thanks to support from Swansea Council and the UK Shared Prosperity Fund. Join us on February 7th, 2025, at Brangwyn Hall to explore new opportunities, connect with employers, and take steps toward a brighter future.
