The Lagos Shopping Festival, a 72-hour non-stop shopping and entertainment event, is expected to generate direct and indirect employment opportunities for residents of the state through vendor participation.

This was stated during the unveiling of a partnership between  Guinness and the Lagos State Government. The  collaboration was said to have been designed to boost commerce, tourism, and entertainment in the state.

According to Guinness Nigeria Managing Director, Girish Sharma, the partnership is a testament to their commitment to supporting initiatives that drive economic growth, promote culture and tourism and foster community engagement.

Recognising Lagos as the heartbeat of commerce and culture in Nigeria, Sharma noted that the company is pleased to be part of the historic event, contribute to its success and celebrate the resilience and creativity of Lagosians.

The three days event scheduled to take place from 23 to 25, December 2024 at Mobolaji Johnson Arena in Lagos Island will  be a fusion of commerce, culture and entertainment.

Highlighting the gains of the maiden event, Lagos State governor, Babajide Sanwo-Olu, said it will support local businesses, create economic opportunities and enhance Lagos reputation as a beacon for tourism and innovation.

He, however, urged Lagosians, businesses, and visitors to participate in the festival, promising a transformative experience. “This festival will redefine December in Lagos, uniting families, friends, and Nigerians in the Diaspora in celebration,” Sanwo-Olu stated.
