Youth Leaders Rally for Environmental Action at Serenità Foundation Seminar
By
Young leaders and community advocates gathered on 7th December this year for the Annual Youth Seminar organised by Serenità Foundation in Imo State.
Powered by the foundation’s founder, Dr. Justin Nzekwe (a Rev. Fr), the event focused on the theme “The Role of Youth Leadership in Advancing Ecological Stewardship and Environmental Security.”
The seminar brought together participants from across the state to discuss how young people can drive environmental responsibility in Nigeria.
Delivering the keynote address, youth advocate and public speaker Mr. Ikechukwu Ovuoba urged youths to see themselves as “guardians of the environment” and agents of sustainable development.
He called for active engagement in policy advocacy, climate education, and community initiatives to tackle issues such as erosion, waste management, and deforestation.
Interactive workshops explored practical strategies for waste reduction, sustainable agriculture, and environmental awareness.
Participants developed action plans for schools, parishes, and local communities, reinforcing the event’s focus on practical impact.
In a goodwill message, the organisers emphasised that youth are not just beneficiaries of progress but partners in building sustainable communities.
They encouraged collaboration among families, schools, and government agencies to strengthen environmental stewardship.
As the event closed, participants pledged to initiate projects and campaigns promoting ecological responsibility. The seminar reaffirmed Serenità Foundation’s mission to inspire leadership, green health, and social transformation through youth empowerment.
