Redesigning Financial Habits: How PennyTree Empowers Everyday Users
At PennyTree, we believe that lasting financial habits start with simplicity and consistency. Our mission is to make managing money more intuitive and accessible, especially for everyday users who want to take control of their finances but often feel overwhelmed by complexity.
According to Zainab Azeez Chief Product Manager PennyTree, applying human-centred design, the team worked closely with users to identify key pain points in their financial behaviours. We found that many users struggled with saving regularly, tracking expenses, and managing cross-border payments. To address these challenges, PennyTree introduced features like recurring savings goals, smart budgeting tools, and easy-to-use international transfers.
These tools are designed not just for ease of use but also for real-world impact. The recurring savings goals allow users to save small amounts automatically, creating a habit of saving without much thought. The budgeting tools help users visualise their spending and suggest ways to optimise, making it easy to stick to financial plans. Additionally, our cross-border transfer feature allows users to send and receive money globally, quickly, and affordably.
PennyTree’s commitment to growth is supported by its regulatory framework. Recently, the company earned a crowdfunding license from the Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC) in Nigeria, ensuring that it operates with full compliance in the fintech space. PennyTree is also a registered operator with FinPort, the SEC’s fintech innovation hub, enabling it to further expand its services and attract more users.
As Chief Product Manager, I’ve been deeply involved in shaping these user-centred features. Working alongside a talented team, we’ve focused on making financial management feel less like a chore and more like a natural part of life. Each update reflects our ongoing commitment to delivering products that are both easy to use and meaningful in helping our users build healthier financial habits.
Through thoughtful design, user feedback, and a strong regulatory foundation, PennyTree is transforming how people manage their money.
