As Nigeria continues to invest in digital infrastructure and foster innovation, the co-Founder of Knit Technologies and former Senior Special Adviser to the President on Education, Mr. Fela Bank-Olemoh, yesterday, called on the government to sustain the investments, saying that the country has the potential to become a leading digital economy in Africa.

Bank-Olemoh who made this call at the inauguration of Knit, an event listing and ticketing app; which enables people to discover and engage in programmes and activities through a user-friendly platform,  Bank-Olemoh, explained that Nigeria has undergone a rapid and transformative evolution in digital technology; from expanding internet accessibility to enhancing broadband connectivity.

He stated Knit aims to foster meaningful connections within local communities and have an app that allows individuals to efficiently create or discover events, secure tickets to their favourite shows and establish meaningful connections..

“In our fast paced world, how people discover events and connect with individuals who share similar interests is constantly changing. We recognise the need for innovation to enhance and simplify these processes of both organising and attending  events. However, our mission extends beyond the event  themselves.”

He further explained that digital technology has the potential to transform commerce and business in Nigeria for increased access to markets through digital platforms that will help businesses to reach new customers and markets more easily and cost-effectively.

“For instance, e-commerce platforms allow small businesses to sell their products to customers all over the country, without having to invest in physical stores or distribution networks. It enhances improved efficiency and productivity through digital technologies that can help businesses to automate tasks, streamline processes, and improve decision-making.

The co-Founder stated  that the app was born out of an understanding of the pain points within the events industry and a resolve to proffer solutions through distinctive features which allows event organisers to create events and sell out tickets fast.

“Knit app uses a location-driven and  interest-based  technology to connect people to events and activities,”he said, while expressing delight about the new business models and opportunities that are being enabled by digital technologies.

“For example, the rise of the gig economy is creating new opportunities for freelancers, young people from around the world and small businesses.”

Notable features,  Bank-Olemoh pointed out include; social networking features, enabling users to chat, send videos etc, to their connections in-app, weather forecast feature for event organisers and QR code integration.

“Knit combines location-based event discovery, interest based recommendations, social networking, analytics and ticketing features, making it the go-to app for anyone looking to  find and attend exciting local events, create and monetise their events, as well as connect with like-minded individuals.

To get started on the Knit app, he noted that users can download the app on Play Store and App Store.
