MMC Ready to Partner With Nigerian Miners for Solid Minerals Sector

The Minerals and Miners Centre (MMC) in London, United Kingdom, has said that they are prepared to collaborate with miners in the diaspora, particularly Nigerians, who wish to participate in activities related to Nigeria’s Solid Minerals Sector.
The organization in a press statement noted that they are hosting a meeting in London where international interest groups in mineral beneficiation, gemstone trading, and other mining aspects will gather to create mutually beneficial agreements.
The press statement read, “ The goal of MMC is to ensure that Nigerians living abroad can tap into the natural resources of their homeland. Additionally, MMC aims to establish a presence in Nigeria through partnerships with private sector players and facilitate agreements for Chinese manufacturers to provide beneficiation machinery to benefit Nigerian miners.
They have also partnered with Richflood International, an environmental consulting firm, to enhance environmental and social sustainability in the sector.
They continued, “ MMC is open to collaborating with experts in various mining-related fields, such as mining engineers, machinery engineers, environmentalists, geologists, and geoscientists.”
The Managing Director of Richflood and MMC’s representative in Nigeria, Dr. Comfort Asokoro-Ogaji, said he is confident in the ability of the Nigerian private sector to drive positive changes in the mining sector.
He also noted that they plan to discuss these initiatives in London in November and sign Memorandums of Understanding with Nigerian firms.
Also an environmentalist Dr. Asokoro-Ogaji, will play a key role in promoting environmentally responsible mining practices and ensuring compliance with environmental and social sustainability standards.
She also emphasizes MMC’s gender sensitivity and its focus on supporting women in the mining sector, with plans to establish cooperatives for mineral buying centers and small-scale beneficiation equipment managed by women engineers. The initiative aims to empower women in the sector and promote gender inclusiveness.
