CLOTHES BY MORAY AWAKENS A MULTICULTURAL SENSE OF FASHION WITH THEIR OMOLUABI COLLECTION.
The 2022 edition of the Ibadan Ankara Fashion Fiesta was a grandeur of amazing designs, intriguing styles, and compelling appearances. The organizer’s introduction of a runway that enables models to embody the dresses instead of an immobile mannequin elevated the essence of the show magnanimously. In comparison with the previous edition of the fiesta, this has been summarily regarded by fashion consumers and critics as ‘an artistic fashion display that celebrates the Nigerian cultural heritage.’ This year’s edition was hosted in a bigger location, accommodated a runway that was beautifully lighted, and had more fashion vendors in attendance. The organization in the way each phase of the execution, the presence of the press and other brands who partnered with the planners pegs it as the best fashion exhibition in Ibadan in the last 2 years.

There were varying appealing designs but one whom we looked forward to because of their impressive outing in the last edition was Clothes by Moray. To say that they lived up to the expectation and outshine their previous performance is accurate. They took it a notch up by combing through the culture of different tribes in Nigeria and using the Ankara fabric to create designs and styles that celebrated the Nigerian cultural diversity and how it unites us. The founder and creative director of the brand Oke Morenikeji explained while introducing it on the runway,
“Our Omoluabi Collection has been neatly tailored and knitted with Ankara fabrics to celebrate modesty and being responsible. Our parents while raising us instilled in us different set of values, one of which is appearing in clothes that amplifies your Africanness in terms of covering your skin, and yet making you the center of attraction. This collection was made to imprint that value on the younger generation. While there is freedom of expression in what we wear, they need to know that beauty and fashion are not underlined by how much of your skin is shown.”
Upon their walk of glamour, the models justified Morenike’s statement. All the attires were beautifully stitched and reminded one of an ancient Nigeria where fashion was a stem from our cultural values. The dresses were complemented with fashion accessories from specific cultures, all of which awakened the right sense of being Nigerian and proud. Clothes by Moray has once again won the hearts of many with their passionate artistic designs with the Ankara fabric.
