Olamide Bayeroju Wins TechQuest 2023 Women in Energy Leadership Award
By Stanley Kelvin, Senior Energy Correspondent
The recently concluded TechQuest International Conference 2023, held in Lagos, brought together leading innovators, engineers, and executives from across the global energy industry to celebrate outstanding contributions to sustainability, leadership, and technological advancement. Among the highlights of the evening was the announcement of Ms. Olamide Bayeroju as one of the winners of the TechQuest Women in Energy Leadership Award 2023.
The prestigious award, presented during the closing gala of the three-day conference, recognizes women who are transforming the global energy landscape through innovation, operational excellence, and people-centered leadership. The atmosphere at the event reflected both pride and anticipation as leaders across oil and gas, renewable energy, and emerging technology gathered to honor exceptional professionals shaping Africa’s energy future.
For Olamide Bayeroju, a highly accomplished supply chain and logistics professional, this recognition represents the culmination of years of dedication to precision, efficiency, and leadership within one of the world’s most demanding industries. Her journey in the energy sector tells the story of a professional who has not only delivered measurable results but has also redefined how data, planning, and human capital converge to drive operational success.
Olamide’s career began in 2014 at the Shell Petroleum Development Company (SPDC) in Nigeria, where she joined as a Logistics Graduate. From the outset, she demonstrated an exceptional grasp of supply chain dynamics and operational improvement. She led initiatives that reduced non-productive time in logistics operations from 24 percent to 7 percent, a move that saved the company more than $1.1 million annually. Her early work in implementing LEAN models, optimizing warehouse space, and creating visual dashboards laid the groundwork for her emerging reputation as a detail-oriented strategist with a talent for execution.
By 2017, Olamide advanced to the position of Planning and Logistics Advisor at SPDC. In this role, she managed multimillion-dollar budgets, developed compliance strategies, and streamlined planning processes across logistics and aviation operations. Under her supervision, the organization achieved a 15 percent reduction in land transport costs, reflecting her ability to combine cost efficiency with safety and quality. Her oversight of logistics assurance programs for aviation and waste management teams further established her as a leader committed to safe and sustainable operations.
She transitioned to Shell Nigeria Exploration and Production Company (SNEPCo), where she took on the role of Integrated Logistics Scheduler. Working in the challenging environment of deep-water operations in the Niger Delta, Olamide coordinated vessel movements for rigs, platforms, and supply bases. Through disciplined planning and collaboration, she achieved $1.4 million in cost savings and reduced vessel turnaround times from 120 hours to just 33 within six months. These results, according to colleagues, were a product of her structured problem-solving approach and ability to align multiple teams toward common operational goals.
Her pursuit of excellence took on a global dimension in 2022 when she joined Brunei Shell Petroleum as Short-Term Integrated Activity Planner. Managing operations for more than 50 offshore platforms, she delivered over $4 million in cost savings through improved scheduling, data integration, and cross-functional collaboration. She also introduced an integrated logistics planning dashboard, a tool that provided visibility into performance metrics and enabled more proactive decision-making.
Beyond her technical accomplishments, Olamide has consistently demonstrated leadership in developing others. As Learning Lead for the Future Energy Leaders Brunei, she has guided early-career professionals in building competence and accountability. She also serves as a Logistics Business Integrity Ambassador, leading monthly ethics and compliance sessions to reinforce the values of transparency and professionalism across operational teams.
Her colleagues describe her leadership style as pragmatic, inclusive, and grounded in evidence-based decisions. Whether working in Nigeria or Southeast Asia, Olamide has maintained a focus on aligning strategy with measurable outcomes while promoting safety, sustainability, and ethical governance.
The TechQuest Awards Committee cited Olamide’s measurable impact, data-driven approach, and consistency in achieving results as key reasons for her selection. Her record of reducing inefficiencies, managing large-scale planning operations, and fostering collaboration across multiple business functions embodies the principles the Women in Energy Leadership Award seeks to honor.
In a sector where precision and discipline determine performance, Olamide’s achievements stand as a benchmark. Her ability to transform complex logistical challenges into efficient, replicable systems reflects the kind of leadership needed to drive the future of Africa’s energy operations.
