Not Too Old Conference: Empowering Every Individual at Sheraton Lagos on June 17th, 2023

On June 17th, 2023, the prestigious Sheraton Lagos Hotel hosted the groundbreaking event of the “Not Too Old Conference,” organized by the Arete Zale Consulting firm.

This conference aimed to celebrate the valuable contributions, aspirations, and challenges of the average individual in a rapidly changing world, while dispelling negative stereotypes and discrimination based on age.

As people grow older each year and birthdays pass by, some individuals are progressing and achieving great success, while others feel stuck and miserable due to a fixed mindset that they are too old and incapable of achieving their goals. But who says so?

The conference featured an array of distinguished speakers who delivered insightful presentations and engaged in discussions. They shared their personal stories of transitioning from one phase of life to another, achieving their goals, and living a more desirable life. Together, they helped participants dispel ageism and foster a society that honors and values the experiences and wisdom of every individual, regardless of age.

Conference Highlights:

The Not Too Old Conference began with an opening keynote by Mr. Precious Oshideko, who encouraged anyone dissatisfied with their life to make a change. He emphasized replacing self-sabotaging and defeating mindsets with focused mindsets, staying true to the picture of their main goal without entertaining distractions, no matter where they come from.

Other esteemed speakers, including Mr. Segun Oludare, Mr. Damola Oshideko, Mr. Tosin Adekunle, Mr. Femi Oludare, Mr. Jide Onabajo, and Miss Bukky Oshideko, highlighted the necessity of personal growth, self-discipline, professional development, social engagement, financial literacy, and embracing technology.

The discussions explored ways to ensure that individuals aged 40 and above are not marginalized or excluded from society, but are active participants in their respective spheres of life. Help is available for everyone, but people need to make good use of their relationships and stop feeling defeated internally.

The conversations aimed to foster a society that respects individuals of all ages, acknowledging their success at different stages of life, and eradicating biases often associated with ages 40, 50, 60, and even 70s.

The conference recognized the significance of intergenerational discussions and encouraged older generations to engage with younger generations to bridge gaps and foster mutually beneficial relationships.

The Not Too Old Conference was an inspiring event that shed light on the value, potential, and challenges faced by older citizens in our rapidly evolving world. With a focus on personal development, dispelling stereotypes, promoting health and well-being, embracing technology, and fostering intergenerational dialogue, the conference left attendees motivated to drive positive change in their lives.

By recognizing that age should never be a barrier to living a fulfilling life, even after experiencing failure, no one should be afraid to start again. Everyone should learn to accept that failure is part of the growth process and keep moving forward.

The next edition of the “Not Too Old Conference” will be held on June 15th, 2024, at Sheraton Hotel Lagos, continuing to contribute to building a society that cherishes and harnesses the wisdom, resilience, and vibrancy of every individual.

Participants enjoyed the uplifting music of Mrs. Yinka Alaseyori, and the event concluded on a high note as all participants were treated to a lunch buffet at Sheraton Hotel Lagos.
