Skit Awards Gathers Momentum as Event Set to Rock Lagos to the Foundation
Nigerian youths are one of a kind. In the face of mass unemployment and the debilitating jam that was the COVID-19 virus, the industry that has come to be known as the skit industry opened up like a blooming flower. In recognition of the efforts of these young people who brought that industry to life, an event has been scheduled which could potentially become an annual thing that inspires more Nigerians to get into the skit industry.
Bimbo Daramola is the MD of Concept Bridge, a business group that is particularly interested in the development of Nigeria’s potential and opportunities in Public Relations, Mass Communications using the information and Communication Technology (ICT) sector. Soon to be joined by a few others, Daramola has decided to design an award-delivering event that extols Nigeria’s talents in the form of skit makers (skit artists, in Daramola’s opinion).
According to Daramola, the skit industry has a great potential for mass employment and awareness. This is because skit artists can capture the attention of Nigerians (and foreigners) with their short, often funny video clips. As a result, he believes that recognizing these artists formally will greatly boost their confidence and ingenuity, and inspire them to do more.
Daramola and his team are not the first to attempt to distinguish skit artists from the other people of the theatre. However, they are the first to actively do something about it. Thus, in the scheduled event that is to come, these skit artists will be celebrated and awarded for their well-deserved contributions to awareness, to lifting the Nigerian spirit, to thinking up innovative ways to make money, and to proving that Nigerian youths are just as ingenious as the young people from developed worlds.
The people who are informed about the coming event are simply ecstatic. Beyond making the skit industry a formal arm of the Nigerian arts and culture industry, this event is likely going to become an oomph for the mass employment of people everywhere, especially in the skit industry.
