A former National Secretary of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), Senator Umar Ibrahim Tsauri, has said the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC) is not a political party but an association of people with no political ideology.

He described the APC as “a contraption” with neither programme nor ideological position, predicting the collapse of the party during its February 2022 planned convention.

Tsauri spoke at a welcome-home reception organised by the Katsina State chapter of the PDP in honour of his “meritorious service”, which was held at the party’s secretariat in Katsina.

He said: “APC is not a political party but an association of people with no political ideology. In fact, the party is a contraption with neither programme nor ideological position.

“The party (APC) retrieved power from us (PDP) in 2015 but they don’t know how to go about it. They said PDP will end before the convention but we have successfully conducted our convention. But I want to assure you people that APC will collapse on the day of its convention.”

He explained that a ruling party with visionary leaders and political ideology would adopt revolving measures to end the prevailing security challenges, poverty, economic hardship and unemployment afflicting the citizenry.

He, however, said the ability of the PDP to hold a violence-free convention had shown that the party is more formidable and ready to take charge of the presidency in 2023.

The Katsina State Chairman of the party, Hon. Salisu Yusuf Majigiri, while addressing the dignitaries, said PDP would reclaim power in 2023 in order to make things better for the country and its citizens having experienced what he called bad governance from the APC.

He described the successful convention of the party as evidence that the party has learnt from its pitfalls in the 2015 general election and is ready to reclaim power in 2023.

According to him, “PDP now has well-equipped structures at both ward, local government, state and national levels to reclaim power in the forthcoming general election.”
