National Assembly Committed to Reduction of Poverty among Nigerians, Says Lawmaker

The Chairman, House of Representatives Committee on National Planning and Economic Development, Hon. Abdulganiyu Saka Cook Olododo, has reiterated the commitment of members of the National Assembly to embark on social investment that will reduce poverty amd boost economic activities among Nigerians.
Olododo, who represents Ilorin east/ Ilorin south federal constituency of Kwara State, stated this in Ilorin on Friday while distributing empowerment materials worth over N300 million to 500 members of his constituents.
Among the empowerment materials distributed included freezers, sewing machines, grinding machines, hair drier machines, industrial sewing machines, generator sets and popcorn machines.
The event was the 13th of its kind since the lawmaker was elected into the National Assembly so as to boost the economic growth of his constituents.
He said: “Since the election of the present crops of the members of the House of Representatives into the National Assembly, they have been embarking on social investment that would reduce poverty in the country.”
The lawmaker stated that the development has changed the lives of the masses and thereby improving their economic status.
Olododo added that the beneficiaries should ensure that the materials are used for what it is meant for and should not resell the empowerment materials to the members of the public.
He stressed that they should use the empowerment materials to boost their economic activities so as to add value to their well being in the society.
According to him, “The empowerment material distributions should not been see as a way of national cake but should be used to accelerate their economic growth.
“My empowerment move to the members of the constituents is in fulfilment of my electoral promises during my campaigns during the 2019 general election.
“I believe in empowerment rather than giving out money to the people so as to make the people to add value to their social wellbeing.
“And I want to assure all of the members of my constituents that more of this empowerment programme are still coming and I advise all the members to be up and doing to support him in the tasks of improving the lives of the populace in the federal constituency.”
The lawmaker also said that he has facilitated many projects to the constituency such as five road constructions, provision of solar lights and rehabilitation of schools, among others.
Olododo therefore called on members of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in the state not to be worried about the antics of some other members of the party, saying: “APC loyal in the state is where the power is and when the time comes, the members of the party will see it.”
