‘No Rift Between NSA, Amnesty Office’

The Office of the National Security Adviser (ONSA), weekend, denied any rift with the presidential amnesty office over the tenure of the interim administrator.

The denial was sequel to reports that the heads of the two agencies were on war path over the extension of the tenure of the latter.

A statement issued by the Head, Strategic Communication, Office of The National Security Adviser, Mr. Zakari Usman, said the report was false and concocted.
“The attention of the Office of the National Security Adviser has been drawn to a report implying that the National Security Adviser and the Interim Administrator of the Presidential Amnesty Programme are ‘on war path over tenure extension”.

“The report is false and concocted to stoke confusion and mislead the public.

Therefore, stakeholders across the Niger Delta, the public and the media are advised to disregard and dismiss the report.

“The amnesty beneficiaries are equally encouraged to continue to support the ongoing reform of the programme”, it said.

The statement said the leadership of the amnesty office enjoys the support of the NSA.

“For the avoidance of doubt, the interim administrator of the presidential amnesty programme enjoys the full support and confidence of the National Security Adviser”, it said.
