Security Operatives Arrest Man with 52 Magazines, 200 Live Ammunition

A Joint Patrol Team, which comprises personnel of the Nigeria Police and the Federal Road Safety Corps’ (FRSC), yesterday intercepted a suspected man with 52 empty magazines and over 200 ammunitions in Nasarawa State.
The suspect, Likita Abubakar was reportedly intercepted on a motorbike laden with dangerous weapon while on transit Saturday morning at Alushi junction along the Akwanga- Abuja highway, Akwanga.
THISDAY gathered that angry youths in the area burnt down the suspect’s motorbike, though did not kill the suspect, who was currently with the state police command.
It was gathered that the suspect confessed that he was traveling to Jos, Plateau State alongside six of his kinsmen riding motorbikes laden with guns ahead of him.
He, also, confessed that his kinsmen were able to maneuver out of the patrol team while he was intercepted.
Police Public Relations Officer (PPRO), Nasarawa State Police Command, Ramhan Nansel, confirmed the report, saying the Joint Patrol Team had arrested the suspect with arms.
Nansel, an Assistant Superintendent of Police (ASP), said: “On 21/8/2021 at about 0900hrs, sequel to information received which indicated that, a suspected criminal who has been on the wanted list of the Nasarawa State Police Command for offences ranging from armed robbery to kidnapping was sighted at Alushi Junction, Akwanga LGA, Nasarawa State, a detachment of Police operatives attached to Akwanga Division were immediately deployed to the area.
“Consequently, one Likita Abubakar ‘M’ 35 years was arrested; upon diligent and systematic search, 53 empty magazines, 260 rounds of live ammunition and cash sum of N38, 500 was recovered from him as exhibits.
“The Commissioner of Police, Adesina Soyemi has ordered that the case be transferred to State Criminal Investigation Department, Lafia for thorough investigation.”
