Queen Zaynab Otiti Obanor Champions a Major Breakthrough in Clean Water Access with the Water for Wellness Project
Renowned for her enduring dedication to humanitarian works, Queen Zaynab Otiti Obanor has once again underscored her commitment to the wellbeing of communities with her involvement in the Water for Wellness Project. The project, aimed at bridging the significant gap in the availability of clean, potable water in the world’s most affected regions, is reporting remarkable progress under her stewardship.
As a former Nigerian queen and United Nations Population Fund (UNFPA) ambassador, Queen Zaynab is known for her advocacy for women’s and children’s rights, health, and equity. Her latest venture, the Water for Wellness Project, has begun to yield significant results in the fight against water scarcity. “We set out to bring clean and safe drinking water to communities who have been deprived of this basic necessity,” she said. “The progress we’ve made thus far is incredibly encouraging.”
The Water for Wellness Project works by identifying the communities most affected by water problems. It then partners with professional geologists to investigate the availability and viability of underground water sources. Once viable water sources are identified, the project awards contracts to experienced engineering companies to sink boreholes and establish reliable water access points.
“The process involves more than just drilling boreholes,” explained Queen Zaynab. “We also ensure that community leaders assign management and sanitation duties to their members and have consultants monitor maintenance.”
The organization, besides supplying water, also aims to spur innovation by providing seed funding for emerging technologies that can address the water security crisis. “We’re excited about the range of new technologies we’ve been able to support, from water sensors to advanced filtration systems,” Queen Zaynab stated.
Funded by generous donations and sponsorships from around the globe, the Water for Wellness Project remains committed to accountability and transparency. Donations are directly managed by the organization and allocated to the appointed village communities. Donors receive an annual report detailing how their contributions have been utilized.
The project’s successes can be seen in the smiling faces of those who now have access to clean water. It’s a testament to Queen Zaynab’s tireless efforts and her belief that everyone deserves access to safe, clean water.
She concluded with a powerful message: “Water is life. Our commitment is to bring life, in all its fullness, to the communities that need it the most. We are saving lives, and we won’t stop until every community has access to the clean water they deserve.”
