THE NEIGHBORHOOD TALK kicks off internship and mentoring program
The Neighborhood Talk, has shared its plans to kick off a yearly internship and mentoring program this year. The Neighborhood Talk is a lifestyle, Music, entertainment and celebrity news company, whose main objective is giving its followers current news and gossip about music, movies, artistes, and entertainment in general.
Founded by CEO Kyle Anfernee Wilson in 2018, ‘The Neighborhood Talk’ is a popular urban blog that has captured the attention of millions worldwide. It took shape when the creative entrepreneur was at a low point where he decided to make an avenue where he could write without restriction.
“I lost my job at one of the biggest urban blogs in the world, and I knew that I would never get the amount of freedom I had there anywhere else,” he shares. “So, I took the tools and skills I developed while working for my previous employer, started my own blog and bet on myself.” Kyle says.
The Neighborhood Talk doesn’t haven a physical office at this time, but currently employs one full time and two part staff. “All of our employees work remotely from home and communicate on Zoom or via group chat” says Kyle.
Starting April 2021 The Neighborhood Talk will begin offering internships to college students only at this time with the possibility of employment upon completion. The program is designed to help young men and women who are interested in becoming writers and entertainment/music bloggers or one day owning and running their own blog gain an insight into the inner workings of a typical blog.
Kyle Anfernee, the CEO of ‘The Neighborhood Talk’ said the program, was slated to begin in October 2020, but was delayed and put on hold due to the covid-19 pandemic lockdown and restrictions. He pointed out that with internships and mentorship initiatives, mentees are often required to shadow their mentors so it is more practical to do it in person rather than virtually. “Given the state of rising infections and hospitalizations caused by the pandemic it would be morally wrong to kick off the program without proper safety protocols in place” he said. He further stated that they considered doing the program remotely online, but then it would defeat the in person purpose of the program.
The program will be free for individuals in both high school and undergraduate college irrespective of their age or location.
