Mr. Olushola Odejobi Inducted as Fellow of the Institute of Management Consultants
By Ugo Aliogo
The landscape of professional work in Nigeria, particularly client-facing implementation and management consulting, marks a significant milestone as the Institute of Management Consultants (IMC-Nigeria) formally elevates Olushola Odejobi, a distinguished Nigerian technology strategist, management consultant, and enterprise systems innovator, to the status of Fellow. This induction represents far more than a simple change in membership grade; it serves as a powerful validation of professional excellence and leadership from a body of high-ranking peers, honouring his extraordinary contributions to enterprise technology, data-driven automation, and multidisciplinary consulting practice in Nigeria.
The IMC Fellowship is one of the most prestigious professional recognitions in Nigeria, reserved for individuals who have demonstrated extraordinary impact, leadership, and integrity in the management consulting profession. At its core, it is an exclusive honour reserved for a small percentage of the professional community who demonstrate extraordinary achievements and a commitment to the highest global standards of practice. The Institute of Management Consultants (IMC-Nigeria) is affiliated with the International Council of Management Consulting Institutes (ICMCI), the global standard-setting body for management consulting, representing professional institutes across multiple countries and reinforcing the international relevance of this recognition.
The process leading to this conferment is designed to be exceptionally rigorous, ensuring that the honour remains a true mark of distinction. Under the Institute’s governing framework, the Fellowship is the highest grade of membership available, governed by strict constitutional bylaws that demand evidence of sustained impact across fields such as technology, engineering, and management science. The election begins with peer recognition, requiring nomination by two established Fellows whose own careers reflect a history of distinction, integrity, and mastery within the consulting profession. Following this nomination, the candidate undergoes a multi-stage evaluation process that is merit-based, competitive, and highly exclusive, with a constitutional limit restricting annual admissions to no more than ten percent of the total membership body annually.
Central to the integrity of this honour is the Membership Committee, composed entirely of distinguished Fellows recognized as national and international experts in their respective fields. The individuals responsible for this review include prominent scholars and practitioners such as Professor Ukertor Gabriel Moti, whose academic career and research in public administration are widely recognized within Nigeria’s academic and policy circles, and Professor David Iornem, a management consultant and author with international exposure and executive training from institutions including Harvard, MIT, and Wharton. Their participation ensures that the assessment is grounded in scholarly depth and applied expertise. The committee requires a minimum of five outstanding achievement criteria, ranging from research leadership and innovation to mentorship and technological advancements. Final approval comes from the Board of Directors and the Governing Council, a group that includes diplomats, senior consultants, and public sector administrators, ensuring every Fellowship awarded upholds the Institute’s ethical standards.
Odejobi’s election is particularly notable because he met eleven distinct qualifying requirements, spanning areas such as leadership, innovation, research contributions, and measurable impact within the consulting and technology domains. His recognition stems from a unique ability to bridge the gap between technical execution and high-level consulting principles.
Over the years, Odejobi has led the design, development, and implementation of complex enterprise systems across multiple sectors in Nigeria, encompassing technology infrastructure, operational automation, governance frameworks, and cross-disciplinary consulting engagements. His technical solutions bridge the critical gap between high-level consulting principles and ground-level implementation. Notable contributions include the deployment of industry-scale enterprise systems across sectors such as technology infrastructure, operations and organizational governance, and the integration of legal, operational, and governance considerations into cohesive, technology-enabled organizational strategies.
He has championed the use of data-driven automation and enterprise architecture to reduce operational inefficiencies and improve institutional performance, incorporating structured governance models, process optimisation frameworks, and technology-enabled compliance systems, ensuring that solutions are both technically robust and organisationally sustainable. His ability to collaborate across disciplines, working alongside legal, governance, and operational teams, ensures that his digital transformation efforts align with broader institutional goals, setting new standards for how technology professionals engage with management consulting practice in Nigeria.
Through research participation and knowledge dissemination, Odejobi has made tangible scholarly contributions to the field. His professional contributions have attracted recognition from senior practitioners and scholars in the discipline. He is viewed as a practitioner who does not merely work within a system but actively shapes and improves it for the benefit of the wider professional community.
At the heart of Odejobi’s mission is his determination to raise the standard of management consulting practice in Nigeria by anchoring it in technological precision and scholarly rigour. With Nigeria’s consulting landscape increasingly demanding professionals who can navigate both technical and strategic domains, he has responded with an approach that integrates enterprise systems expertise with management science, the very kind of multidisciplinary mastery the IMC Fellowship was designed to recognize. The Institute identifies contributions in technology and engineering as vital domains that advance the broader practice of management consulting, underscoring that recognising “any field of human endeavour” that advances global standards keeps the Institute at the forefront of professional evolution.
“Every system I build is about more than just solving a technical problem,” he stated. “We are shaping how organisations think, operate, and grow. The goal is always lasting, scalable impact.”
The Fellowship certificate, issued under the authority of the National President and the Director General, officially recognises his commitment to maintaining and extending world standards of competence and client service. By conferring this Fellowship, the Institute of Management Consultants acknowledges Olushola Odejobi not only as a technical expert but as a transformational leader shaping the future of Nigeria’s management consulting landscape, one whose work demonstrates that advancing the profession requires not just technical mastery but vision, scholarly depth, and a commitment to ethical practice.
His election is a clear indication that the standards of management consulting in Nigeria are being held to an international benchmark. This honour cements his place among a select group of professionals contributing to Nigeria’s evolving management consulting landscape, aligned with internationally recognized standards of excellence in management science and technology on a global scale, and stands as a testament to the rigorous, meritocratic process that ensures only the most accomplished among us are called “Fellow.”
