Former Aviation Minister, Hadi Sirika, Daughter, Son-in-law Arraigned, Get N100m Bail Each

A former Aviation Minister, Hadi Sirika, was on Thursday admitted to bail in the sum of N100 million by Justice Sylvanus Oriji of the High Court of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), Maitama.

The judge admitted Sirika, his daughter, Fatima and son-in-law, Jalal Hamma, to bail shortly after the pleaded not guilty to a six count charge read against them by the court.

The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) had arraigned the trio as a firm, Al-Duraq Investment Ltd, over alleged abuse of office and fraud to the tune of N2.7 billion.

They were said to have committed the alleged offences while Sirika served as minister under former President Muhammadu Buhari.

The trio however had up till close of work today to perfect their bail or be remanded in a Correctional Center.

Similarly, both Fatima and Hamma would be released upon meeting a bail of N100 million each.

As part of the conditions attached to the bail, the three defendants are to each produce two sureties in like sum, who must be residents of Abuja, owns verifiable properties and there international passports deposited with the court.

In addition the defendants must not travel out of the court’s jurisdiction with permission from the court.
