Is Dan Orbih Planning Another Anti-party in Edo?

                                         POLITICAL NOTES

Is the Vice Chairman (South) of Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), Chief Dan Orbih, and his godfather planning to play anti-party or spoiler-role to ensure the defeat of the PDP in Edo State as his godfather did in the 2023 presidential election?

In what appeared like an afterthought, Orbih had last week, along with his allies from Edo North, opposed the emergence of Asue Ighodalo as the party’s governorship candidate in Edo State.

Speaking at his country home in Ogbona, Etsako Central Local Government Area during the Edo North PDP (Legacy) leaders’ meeting, Orbih said the current PDP led by Governor Godwin Obaseki and PDP candidate, Ighodalo, cannot lead the state, adding that the PDP legacy group would vote for a candidate who would represent the best interest of the good people of the state.

He claimed that since Obaseki came into the party in 2020, he abandoned the group who worked for his re-election.

Orbih had also rejected his membership of the state PDP Campaign Council which Governor Obaseki graciously included him as a mark of respect.

Many political analysts believe that his godfather will use him and other moles he planted in PDP in other states to destabilise the party in the states to facilitate the victory of APC in the 2027 presidential poll as they did in 2023.

But what is his value in Edo politics? How many councillorship seats, local government chairmanship, state constituency, federal constituency and senatorial elections has he ever won for the party?

Everybody in the state, particularly Edo North, knows that since  Adams Oshiomhole ruled the state as governor, Orbih has never secured victory for his party in the zone, making him a paper weight. So why is he arrogating so importance to himself, deciding who would be governor or not?

Orbih and others led by the Minister of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), Mr. Nyesom Wike, were the spoilers who disorganised the PDP in the last presidential election. Today, they are plotting to frustrate Ighodalo’s governorship ambition, possibly to facilitate the victory of the APC candidate.

Having survived any form of sanction for their anti-party activities in 2023 elections, they are emboldened to implement their wider plot to destroy and weaken the PDP in the states to ensure the victory of the APC in the 2027 presidential poll.

Orbih and his godfather should be told that those who play spoiler-role for others can never be trusted by their new friends.
