Congress of the Alaigbo Development Foundation (ADF) yesterday said it suspended 11 officers of the group for engaging in conducts aimed at undermining and destroying the foundation.

Among those suspended were Prof. Ukachukwu Awuzie, who was recently elected president of the foundation alongside other executives on April 7.

The Chairman of the Congress, which is the supreme authority of the group, Emeritus Prof. Uzodinma Nwala, made this known yesterday in Enugu at a press conference.

He said the decision to suspend the members was reached after they conducted a “show of shame called election at Prof, Barth Nnaji’s private compound in a desperate act meant to seize the leadership of the ADF.

Nwala noted that they refused to respect the intervention of some of the elders of the ADF who had advised that election into the offices of the ADF should be held on April 11, 2024.

According to him, “It is to be noted that the day they carried out this sham selection at Enugu was the day that Nwala, who had led the ADF for 10 years was hosting guests, including several ADF leaders, at his home in Imo State in honour of his beloved daughter’s traditional marriage.”

“Apart from Awuzie, others who were suspended included Obi Udezue Onubogu; former Chairman of the ADF BoT, Chukwuokolo, former Chairman of the Enugu chapter of ADF, Nath Agu, and former acting financial secretary among others.

“Consequently, the suspended members are given two weeks to appear before the disciplinary committee of the ADF Congress, adding that failure to do so and if found guilty of the offences for which they are being charged, they are liable for expulsion from the ADF,” Nwala said.
