Aiyedatiwa Will Create Sharp Impact for Ondo Within Four Years, Says Group

Meanwhile, a political group within APC known as G30, yesterday, said Aiyedatiwa has what it takes to create a very sharp impact for the good people of Ondo State within four years of his administration.

This comes a day after an aspirant and the current Chairman, House Committee on Population in the House of Representatives, Jimi Odimayo, warned the national leadership of the All Progressives Congress against fielding a candidate who will spend only four years as governor.

Odimayo, said the law does not permit the incumbent governor, Aiyedatiwa, to be sworn-in as governor thrice if he intends to run for two terms because he was sworn-in as deputy governor alongside his late principal, Rotimi Akeredolu on 25 February 202, stressing that Ondo South earnestly yearns for a two-term of eight years for whoever will represent the district as governor from February 24, 2025.

However, G30 at a press conference held at Oba-Ile, in Akure North Local Government Area of the state endorsed the aspiration of the governor, saying  whether Aiyedatiwa is spending two or four years, they believe that he will create a very sharp impact for the people within four years.

The convener of the group, Dr. Tola Awosika who was flanked by a former member of the House of Representatives, Tajudeen Adefisoye, Dr. Oluwaseun Bosede Osamaye and other members said the group has carefully evaluated the capacity of governor Aiyedatiwa in the last few months at the saddle of power and should be allowed to consolidate on it.

Awosika said: “I think we should be more worried about tomorrow, what happens to our state, not what happens in a year, two, three or four years.

“I’m sure you know that at the time the Northern senatorial district was clamouring for their own turn, they also wanted eight years but unfortunately God is the one that decides tomorrow and our late governor was only able to achieve seven years, but in those seven years he did his own part.

“He impacted his people and the people are very pleased with the Legacy that he left for them as far as Ondo North is concerned. So I don’t see that being an issue for him. I think it’s not how long you spend, it is what you do when you’re given the opportunity.

“So, whether it’s two or four years, I believe he has what it takes to create very sharp impact for the good people of Ondo State.”

Speaking on the influence of the President ahead of the primary, Awosika said, “We all know the antecedents of President Tinubu, we saw it in his own struggle for the presidential primary ticket.

“He’s a democrat through and through and someone that believes in the process and someone that believes in elections. He fought very hard for his own nomination as a candidate of APC during the 2023 presidential election, and I believe he’s throwing out the same path, he wants the aspirants to also fight for what they believe in and I believe he’s good to support with very transparent and democratic process.

The group promised to mobilise the people to ensure that Aiyedatiwa is elected as the candidate of the party and subsequently as state governor on November 16.
