SAN Attributes Attitudinal Deficit of Nigerians to Arbitrary Inflation of Foods

An Ilorin-based legal luminary, Mallam Yusuf Ola Olu-Ali (SAN), has attributed attitudinal deficit of Nigerians as responsible for arbitrary inflation of foods stuff and other essential commodities in the country.

Speaking in Ilorin, the Kwara State capital, last Monday shortly after hosting journalists from various media houses to Iftar (breaking of fasting) at his residence, the legal expert also  attributed the  plethora of challenges plaguing the country to lack sacrifice of citizens.

He said: “It is high time Nigerians emulated citizens of United Arab Emirate and United States of America that usually ensure fifty percent reduction in prices of food, good and services, particularly during festivities, to demonstrate solidarity to their fellow compatriots.”

He said such gesture has continued to improve the socio economic wellbeing of the people of the two countries.

Ali, who expressed concern over  astronomical increase in prices of  goods and services, charged business operators to refrain from indiscriminate hike of prices under the disguise of dollar rise against naira, to insulate them from God’s punishment

He, therefore, cautioned journalists against popularisation of negative news and encouraged them to imbibe the spirit of developmental media theory to boost the image of the Nigeria

In his remarks, the Chairman, Nigeria Union of Journalists (NUJ), Kwara State Council, Mallam Abdul-lateef Lanre Ahmed, applauded Mallam Ali for institutionalising the Iftar to an annual event with journalists in the state .

He pledged the support of journalists with the legal luminary in his quest for a better nation.
