Osborn Nweze Umahi, positioning himself for future political career

Many young Nigerians are expected to pursue future political careers, although they are currently engaged in careers that are not related to politics. This expectation is based on the history of Nigerian politics, where the sons of prominent politicians are often seen following the footsteps of their fathers. For instance, people expect the sons of former Vice President Atiku Abubakar or one of the sons of President Tinubu to contest for political positions in the future.

Some examples of children of prominent politicians who have entered politics include Blessing Onu, daughter of former Senate President David Mark, who is now a legislator in the House of Representatives, and Bello, son of former Kaduna State governor Nasir el-Rufai, who is also a member of the House of Representatives.

Falz, a rapper and activist, is another individual expected to enter politics, given his constant criticism of corrupt politicians and government officials, and the fact that his father is a famous lawyer who once contested the governorship of Ekiti State.

Osborn Nweze Umahi, who is the son of former Ebonyi State governor David Umahi and current Minister of Works, is also expected to follow in his father’s footsteps.

Born on March 14, 1998, Osborn has followed his father’s example in every way. He studied Civil Engineering at the University of Surrey, England, where he earned a bachelor’s degree at the age of 21.

Osborn worked under his father in his company, Brass Oil and Construction Limited, and became the MD when his father became the governor of Ebonyi State.

Osborn Nweze Umahi also holds a Master’s degree in Financial and Investment Management from the University of Aberdeen, Scotland. He has made a name for himself by starting his own company, Osborn Lapalm Group, a hospitality company, and also works as director of finance at Forte GCC Innovative Solutions, an asset management company.

Although he has not shown any interest in politics, Osborn Nweze Umahi has been seen with his father and other political figures during the 2023 election season. This has led many Nigerians to believe that he is positioning himself for a future political career.
