GAVI Commends President Tinubu’s Commitment to Local Vaccine Production 

President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has received commendations for his passion and commitment to Nigeria’s quest for local manufacture of vaccines and entrenchment of qualitative health care delivery system by the Global Alliance for Vaccines and Immunisation ( GAVI).

GAVI, the Global champion for elimination of vaccines preventable diseases, has also poured encomium on the  Coordinating Minister of Health and Social Welfare,  Prof Mohammad Ali Pate and Executive Director of National Primary Healthcare Development Agency ( NPHCDA), Dr Muyi Aina for their commitment towards improving the health outcomes for Nigerians.

 GAVI, Dr Senator Sania Nishtar who came to the Country on inaugural working visit made the commendations at a grand reception organised in her honour by Federal Government and Alliance Partners. 

Dr Nishtar said the success of GAVI hinges on the success of Nigeria because the Country is very important to her Organisation. 

She disclosed that President Tinubu was very happy about the prospect and plan by GAVI to launch the African Countries Vaccine Manufacture Initiative in June this year. 

Her words “Nigeria is a very important Country to Us. GAVI has a special strategy for Nigeria. The success of GAVI hinges on the success of Nigeria. I am in Nigeria to listen,  learn and understand bottlenecks in line of delivery. 

“The information gathered here will be included in my strategic plan. We are grateful about insights provided by Government and CSO. President Tinubu  is championing Human Resources mobilisation for Health and we will continue to support his initiative. We commend the efforts of Prof Pate and Dr Muyi Aina for their efforts”.

The Executive Director of NPHCDA, Dr Muyi Aina who represented the Coordinating Minister of Health and Social Welfare,  Prof Pate announced that the Federal Government has released her Counterpart Fund just as it was also committed to fulfilling other obligations. 

Dr Aina said the visit of the GAVI Chief Executive was a demonstration of her commitment and support for Nigeria’s Health Care Delivery System. 

Dr Nishtar rounded up her working visit to Nigeria with Advocacy Meetings with Governor of Sokoto State,  Sultan of Sokoto and some First Class Northern Traditional Rulers.
