Tinubu Meets With Akpabio, Jibrin at State House

Deji Elumoye in Abuja

President Bola Tinubu on Tuesday evening met behind closed-doors with the President of the Senate, Senator Godswill Akpabio and the Deputy Senate President, Senator Barau Jibrin, at the State House, Abuja.

The two presiding officers of the Senate met with the President at about 5.15pm shortly after the nation’s upper legislative chamber slamned a three-month suspension on the Chairman of Northern Senators Forum, Senator Abdul Ningi, representing Bauchi Bauchi Central Senatorial District.

The agenda of the meeting could not be ascertained as at press time, but it was reliably gathered that it may not be unconnected with the suspension of the Peoples Democratic Party Senator over the comment credited to him that President Tinubu is implementing a different 2024 budget from what was presented to the National Assembly.

The President was said to have been properly briefed by Akpabio about what transpired at Tuesday’s rowdy session which culminated in the suspension of Ningi.

Though, the Bauchi Senator did not escape the wrath of majority of his colleagues, including his northern brothers, who alleged that his (Ningi) allegation in an interview he granted to the BBC Hausa Service put the senate in bad light.

Akpabio did not talk to newsmen after

 the meeting with the President.
