Nasarawa, Bauchi Swear in New Commissioners

Nasarawa State Governor, Abdullahi Sule, yesterday swore in the 16 commissioner who were confirmed recently by the state House of Assembly.

Similarly, Bauchi State Governor, Senator Bala Mohammed, has sworn in and assigned portfolios to 24 commissioners and members of the State Executive Council.

Swearing in the new commissioners in the Government House in Lafia, Governor  Sule  urged them to shun corrupt tendencies and key into his administration’s vision of transparency, accountability and rule of law.

He equally tasked the new commissioners to justify the confidence government has reposed in them.

The governor said: “I want to implore you to key into my administration’s vision of transparency and accountability, and you are to shun corrupt tendencies.

“I also urge you to be dedicated and be hard working as this administration cherishes hard work, commitment, and loyalty.”

Sule therefore, assured them of his administration’s continuous determination to key into good policies and programmes that would have direct bearing on the lives of people of the state.

He consequently announced portfolios for the newly sworn-in commissioners to include Yakubu Kwanta (Environment and Natural Resources); Aishatu Rufai (Women Affairs); Umar Abubakar Dan’akano (Agriculture); Munirat Abdullahi (Finance); Timothy Kasuwa (Special Duties, Security and Public Matters); Ja’afaru Ango (Youth and Sports); Margaret Elayo (Special Duties Humanitarian Services and NGOs); Bala Mulki (Lands and Urban Development); John D W Mamman (Education).

Other portfolios are: Abubakar Imam Zanwa (Water Resources and Rural Development); Samuel Kafu Emgba (Science and Technology); Aliyu Ahmed Tijjani (Local Government and Chieftaincy Affairs); Muhammed Iyimoga (Trade and Investment); Labaran Magaji (Justice); Gaza Gwamna (Health), and Mu’azu Gosho (Works, Housing and Transport).

On his part, Bauchi State Governor, Senator Bala Mohammed,  who sworn in 24 commissioners, warned them against violating the oath of office and using their various offices to enrich themselves or pursue their political careers.

The commissioners’ inauguration followed their recent screening and confirmation by the state House of Assembly and the Department of State Security (DSS).

Those sworn in as commissioners were: Maiwada Bello (Naturally Resources); Ibrahim Gambo (Works and Transport); Mahmoud Babamaji Abubakar (Commerce and Industry); Danlami Ahmed Kawule (Housing and Environment); Lydia Haruna Tsammani (Higher Education).

Others are: Ahmed Sarki Jalam (Local Government and Chieftaincy Affairs); Yakubu Ibrahim Hamza (Religious Affairs); Usman Santuraki (Information); Abdul Hassan (Culture and Tourism); Muhammad Salees (Youth and Sports Development).

Also, Yakubu Adamu is to head the Ministry of Finance and Economic Development; Usman Abdulkadir Moddibo (Power, Science, and Technology); Hajara Jibrin Gidado (Women Affairs and Child Development); Farouk Mustapha (Rural Development and Special Duties); Hajara Yakubu Wanka (Humanitarian Affairs), and Aminu Hammayo (Budget and Multilateral Affairs).

Also, Hassan El-Yakub SAN was posted to the Ministry of Justice; Muhammad Hamisu Shira (Cooperative, Small and Medium Enterprises); Simon Madugu (Agriculture); Abubakar Abdulhamid Bununu (Security and Internal Affairs); Jamila Muhammad Dahiru (Education); Dr. Adamu Umar Sambo (Health); Abdulrazak Nuhu Zaki (Water Resources); and Amina Muhammad Katagum (Land and Survey).

Addressing the commissioners after the exercise, Governor Mohammed warned them against violating the oath of office and using their various offices to enrich themselves or pursue their political careers.

He also charged them to be guided by the knowledge in striving to meet their expectation and established effective working relationships with relevant stakeholders in discharging their duties.

The state Chief Judge, Justice Rabiu Talatu Umar, presided over the exercise in accordance with the constitution of the Federal Republic of Nigeria.
