As part of activities marking this year’s reunion, Auchi Oldies 1980/89 members donated various gift items to Priesthood Orphanage Home, Abuja, celebrating the feast of the Pentecost 2023.

They had visited and donated food items, provisions, toiletries and some basic needs to the IDP camp in Benin twice, five orphanage homes and two old people’s homes in Lagos, Regina Mundi and Yaba Old People’s Home.

President of 1980/89 sets, Peter Nwadei, said the occasion of their reunion had opened vistas of possibilities and new opportunities to their alma mater, Auchi Polytechnic.

In a statement, he noted that the oldies assembly had enabled bonding and networking among members with immense benefits since the first Reunion in Benin in 2019, again in Dallas, USA, until the Abuja Reunion, pleading with them to keep up the tempo.

On their achievements, he said a multi-purpose Amphi Theater is being constructed by Dr. Ebenezer Onyeagwu, GMD, Zenith Bank, to be delivered in a short time, request for computers by the school for the ICT laboratory is being treated, awards and recognition have been given to some excellent students.

He added that Knight Frank Int. Ltd promised to employ and train five outstanding graduates of the School of Estate Management yearly while a life insurance scheme has been fashioned out for members and they are already keying in.

Nwadei stated that he was “marvelled because the show of love and the care is tremendous and commendable” and that “as long as the members remain intact, the children have great hope.”

The manager of the orphanage, Pastor Jonah John, said children of the homes were indeed elated to be associated with the group and applauded them for their kind gesture, noting that not everyone in positions remembers to consider the plights of the vulnerable in society.
