Aliyu Akwe-Doma, Former Nasarawa Gov Dies in Israel

The immediate past Governor of Nasarawa State, Aliyu Akwe-Doma, is dead.
He died after a brief illness at a foreign hospital in Israel, a nephew, Ahmed Bako, said yesterday evening. He was aged 78.

Investigation further revealed that his health condition was said to have worsened in the pass one month before he was flown out of the country to Tel-Avivi where he finally gave up.

Also confirming the news to the death of the erstwhile governor, his son, Umar, said his father died in Tel-Avivi at about 8p.m yesterday.

His words: “My father died in Tel-Avivi, the capital of Israel at about 8pm in the evening.”

Already, sympathisers have gathered at Akwe-Doma’s house in Orozo, Karshi district of Abuja.
He governed Nasarawa State between 2007 to 2011 when he was defeated by incumbent Governor Umaru Al-Makura.
Akwe-Doma was also a former deputy governor under the late former Governor Solomon Lar in the old Plateau State in 1983.
