The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) Friday arrested a former Secretary to the Government of the Federation (SGF) and Senate President, Senator Anyim Pius Anyim.
Anyim was said to have stormed the commission’s headquarters in Abuja Friday following an invitation by the agency.
The former Senate president is being grilled by EFCC operatives over the diversion of ecological funds during his tenure as the SGF.
Confirming Anyim’s arrest, EFCC Head of Media and Publicity Wilson Uwijaren told THISDAY: “Yes, he has been arrested and he’s still under our custody.”
Uwijaren further explained that Anyim is being questioned over the diversion of “Ecological Funds meant for Kaduna State and the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), Abuja.”
