World Exclusive… Is Davido’s Father Deji Adeleke Interested in Osun Governorship Elelction?

This is still hush-hush. In fact, it is known to only a few privileged insiders. As you read, however, the jigsaw of the plot is now in place; billionaire Deji Adeleke, the father of music superstar, Davido, is being pressured to seek the governorship ticket of the All Progressives Congress, APC, in Osun State in the 2018 elections. The wealthy and widely connected businessman has reportedly been coaxed into seeing reasons why he should take the offer. You would recall that the eldest of the Adeleke brothers, Isiaka, was a serving senator who mysteriously died in April. Senator Adeleke was the first elected governor of Osun State until his administration was truncated by the military intervention of Sani Abacha. In his first term as Senator in 2007, he was a member of the Action Congress which transmuted into the APC. Until his death, Adeleke was a frontline APC member and he had put plans in place to run for the governorship election after the expiration of the incumbent governor’s term in 2018.

For those conversant with Osun State politics, Adeleke was the lead contender as he had the structure and resources to win the election. Death, however, cut short his plans.

The Adeleke family fingered the APC government in the state as the mastermind of the senator’s death. The party didn’t help matters when it decided to queue behind a former senator, Mudashir Hussein, in the senatorial bye-election as against supporting Ademola, the younger brother of the deceased Adeleke who had thrown his hat into the ring. Ademola crossed to the PDP, got the ticket and trounced the APC candidate.

With the growing popularity of PDP following the activation of the Isiaka Adeleke structure within the party and sensing that his eight years might come to nought if he did not install a successor, sources said Aregbesola and the APC hierarchy had made overtures to some of Davido’s father’s friends to prevail on him to seek the APC ticket therefore nullifying the growing influence of his new senator-brother in the state.
