The General Officer Commanding (GOC), 1 Division Nigerian Army, Maj-Gen. Adeniyi Oyebade, has reiterated the commitment of the Nigerian Army to the welfare of soldiers and their professional development.

Oyebade made the remark Sunday, while inaugurating the newly remodelled Nigerian Army Guest House located at No. 1 Achida Road in Sokoto.

A statement signed by the Assistant Director, Army Public Relations, Maj. Clement Obiade, said the project was made possible through the intervention of the Chief of Army Staff (COAS), Lt-Gen. Tukur Buratai, aimed at rehabilitating dilapidated facilities.

“The passion of the COAS for not only the professional development of the troops but also providing for their welfare within the available resources is motivating,” the statement read.

Oyebode, who charged the troops to always ensure maintenance of facilities provided for them, also commended the efforts of President Muhammadu Buhari towards ensuring that resources are provided not only for operational activities but also for the troops’ welfare.
