Feyide Wins Second Nigeria Cup Title

Playing like someone infused with the winning bug, Femi Feyide shot, once again into reckoning, winning his second Nigeria Cup title in the keenly contested event last weekend.

To come top in the competition, Feyide netted a score of 71, beating over 200 others who took part in the 21st edition of the glamorous Nigeria Cup; a week-long competition put in place to celebrate the nation’s Independence anniversary.

The victory was his second on the Nigeria Cup leaderboard. The first was recorded in 2006.

The successful event was sponsored by Eroton, NNPC, Premier Lotto, Folawiyo Petroleum, UBA, Heineken, Notore, Jite Okoloko, Midwestern, Del, Tectonic, Dangote, Snepco, Amni, Nadabo, Oando, Ecobank, ICMA, Aiuther Sun, Hotel, Emirate Airline, Perfection Real Estate, Chevron, CocaCola, PZ, Cappa and Dalberto, MTN, KPMG, 9Mibole and Kenya Airways.  Bolaji Tajudeen Musah amongst others.

Meanwhile, Feyide’s 71-net score was one-shot better than Donald Ehenemba who returned 72-net score beating two others–Grant Daniel and Abubakar Lawal–with the same score on Countback.

Daniel Meyer, who also signed for 72-net score, completed the top-five in the net category. He also lost on countback

Frank Momoh’s 78-gross put him ahead of four others in the gross category. Former Nigeria Cup champion, Tim Ayomike, came second with 80-gross while Olakunle Olatunde came third. Sola Omilabu came fourth in the men’s gross category.

Waking from a slow start as a result of paucity of fund, the Nigeria Cup 2017 Committee led by Brig-Gen. Musbau Amolegbe delivered a wonderful tournament to the admiration of all.

Satisfied at the end of the weeklong competition, the retired Brigadier-General said, “I am grateful to God and especially my Committee for their support”.

Amolegbe, who said the tournament would not have been successful without the support of the sponsors, urged  everyone present to always look to the positive side of the nation in spite of its challenges, saying, there were many things that bound us together than those that divides us.
