Sokoto Attributes Water Scarcity to Power Outage

By Mohammed Aminu in Sokoto
The Sokoto State Water Board Wednesday attributed the water scarcity in some areas of the metropolis to incessant power outage being experienced from the Kaduna Electricity Distribution Company (KEDCO).
Speaking during a chat with newsmen in Sokoto, the board’s General Manager, Alhaji Ahmad Moyi Tambuwal, said the water board was getting less than the required five megawatts electricity supply from KEDCO.
According to him, this has made it difficult for the agency to supply adequate water to the people within the Sokoto metropolis.
He explained that cables supplying electricity to the board’s water pumping and distribution panels were affected as a result of the incessant power outage which needed to be replaced.
The General Manager said a team of engineers were deployed in the site and were working hard to address the problem.
