Borno, Yobe Residents Celebrate Sallah amidst Restrictions

Residents of troubled Borno and Yobe States were compelled to undertake the stressful long trek from their home to Eid prayer grounds due to vehicular restrictions imposed on the two states as a result of the threat of Boko Haram attack.

The residents of both states are no strangers to this as they have been made to undergo this treatment during each of the festivities in the last six years.

Barring the stress of the trek, the celebration was hitch free in the two states as eagle-eyed security operatives kept watch, manning the major roads and keeping watch at the Eid grounds.

In both states, thousands  of Islamic faithful trooped to their Eid praying grounds to mark the Eid-el-Kabir celebration. 

Both Maiduguri and Damaturu, the Yobe and Borno State capitals, had in the past recorded attacks by insurgents during Islamic festivals.

The residents of the two states offered prayers for peaceful Sallah celebrations and commended the efforts of the Muhammad Buhari administration to wipe out insurgency
