Leicester Coach Tips Iheanacho, Vardy Perfect Striking Partners

Leicester City boss, Craig Shakespeare, has insisted that new signing Kelechi Iheanacho, could be a perfect strike partner for fellow front man, Jamie Vardy.

The Foxes recently completed a £25m deal with Manchester City for the striker’s signature, leaving Iheanacho to provide an assist for Vardy during his first friendly appearance for the club against Borussia Monchengladbach last week.

“They can play together, most definitely. You’ve seen how they linked up, and good players can. I think having the depth in the squad is important,” said Shakespeare.

“I thought he was really unselfish for a player making his debut. You would probably think he might take that chance himself, but to spot Jamie, to play that in with the weight of pass he did for Jamie to finish it, it shows his awareness and his unselfishness.”

Iheanacho picked up a slight knock during Leicester’s 2-1 win over Monchengladbach, but could make an appearance off the bench when the Foxes open their Premier League campaign against Arsenal tomorrow night.
