GOC Promises Enhanced Security for Corps Members

The General Officer Commanding 8 Division Nigerian Army, Sokoto, Major General Ibikunke Ajose, has assured that corps members and National Youth Service Corps (NYSC) formations within its areas of operation will continue to enjoy maximum protection from officers and men of the Division.
The GOC disclosed this yesterday when he visited Wamakko Permanent orientation camp, Sokoto.
He said all corps members serving at the Division are equally accorded high priority with other privileges alongside the Army officers.
The visit was to enable the GOC to assess the activities of his personnel being deployed to partake in the conduct of the 2024 Batch C’ Stream II orientation course and to also see how corps members are fairing in the camp.
“I’ am here to see how you are carrying out the camping activities and give you words of advice as well as sharing with you some important security tips that would serve as guiding light to all of you,” he stated.
He reaffirmed the commitment of Nigerian Army under his command to continue prioritising the security and wellbeing of Corps members.
“As we assured you of your security, we also urge you to be security conscious and always be law abiding,” he added.
General Ajose, who is also commander sector 2 Operation Fansan Yamma, North-west further pledged to continue assisting the activities of the scheme in the state, saying that NYSC is like an offshoot of the Nigerian army.

He stated that NYSC has always been a part of the Nigerian Army, hence, the need to foster stronger relationship between both government establishments.
General Ajose added that the Division would continue to work with other sister security agencies, community leaders, traditional rulers, religious groups, political leaders and other stakeholders in the effective discharge of its duties.
“We will continue to provide adequate security for all Corps lodges, NYSC Secretariats and Orientation,” he stated.
Earlier in welcome address, State Coordinator, Usman Yakubu Yaro ( Malikin Zuru) applauded the efforts of the military personnel deployed to the camp, describing their performance as wonderful.
