Aligning Cybersecurity with Business Objectives for Modern Organisations – Innocent Ojo
Innocent Paul Ojo, a Cybersecurity Analyst and Cybersecurity Business Analyst, has reiterated that cybersecurity is not just an IT function; it is one of the core business strategies for any modern organisation.
In the alignment of cybersecurity to business objectives, as Innocent maintains, “if cybersecurity goes along with larger business objectives then the net is a naturally secure and operationally efficient enterprise able to grow through time.”
Again, Innocent clarifies that organisations’ cybersecurity systems help protect firms against external threats as well as complement other capabilities at decision-making processes, risk mitigation efforts, and production of customers’ confidence, putting an organisation to its competitive lead in business-oriented organisations operating in the contemporary digital economy.
In the financial sector, Innocent pointed out that robust cybersecurity frameworks help organisations protect customer data, ensure compliance with regulations, and prevent financial fraud. In e-commerce, meanwhile, integrating cybersecurity into business strategies secures payment systems, protects sensitive information of customers, and builds consumer confidence.
This certainly includes the healthcare industry as well. Innocent explained that robust cybersecurity serves to protect patient information from breaches, in addition to ensuring medical devices and systems are reliable. He adds that such measures are essential to maintaining trust in health services.
He further repeated that cybersecurity strategies need to be fit for purpose. For example, those trading in intellectual property have to ensure sensitive innovations are properly protected, whereas companies dealing directly with customers must ensure seamless yet secure user experiences.
While cybersecurity focuses on the foundation of a business, it also directly involves protecting systems, networks, and data. These are often seen as integral parts of the “foundation” itself.
Innocent continued to be optimistic that with more businesses discovering the value of cybersecurity as a business strategy, they will proactively incorporate security into their operations. This is a way of driving growth and building resilience.
He summed it up by saying,
“Cybersecurity is not just about protecting systems; it’s about securing the critical foundation that supports your entire business.”
