Police Apprehend 652 Suspected Felons in Three Weeks

There was a harvest of criminals across the federation as the Nigerian Police Force (NPF) yesterday announced the arrest of no fewer than 652 suspected felons for involvement in various kinds of criminality in the first three weeks of January 2025.
The police unveiled this disturbing figure while parading some of the suspected felons at the headquarters of Force Intelligence Department-Intelligence Response Team (FID-IRT) in Guzape, Abuja.
Addressing crime correspondents during the parading of the suspected felons in Abuja, the Force Spokesperson Olumuyiwa Adejobi, said that since January 1st 2025, the Nigeria Police Force has recorded significant achievements in the fight against crime.
These, he said include: “The arrest of 179 armed robbery suspects, 100 kidnapping suspects, 152 Murder/homicide suspects, 34 suspects connected with the unlawful possession of prohibited firearms, 77 rape suspects, and 110 suspected cultists.”
Police operatives, he said, also recovered 73 illicit firearms of various calibers, and 310 ammunition.
Adejobi also revealed that the police also recover 56 stolen vehicles and rescue 302 Kidnap victims across the country
According to him, “In today’s press briefing, we have on display, a total of 13 suspects arrested by the gallant operatives of the FID-IRT, 61 AK 47 rifles, four single barrel rifles, 702 ammunition of various calibers, stamps, assorted drugs, substances suspected to be Indian hemp, codeine and various forged documents.
“The arrested suspects have all given their confessional statements and are still providing our operatives with more relevant information to aid in the apprehension of other criminals and further tackling crime and criminalities.”
Adejobi further revealed that on 13th December, 2024 at about 1930hrs operatives of the FID-Intelligence Response Team arrested the duo of Folarin Ottun Tomisin 35years and Yahaya Oladimeji 23years at Ogun State.
The duo, he said were arrested for the offence of corporate fraud of N300,000,000 at a Lifestyle Hospitality Business where they were employed.
“Efforts to recover the stolen funds from the suspects proved futile as investigation reveals that most of the funds had been diverted to their personal accounts and were used for expensive gambling which have formed addiction.
“The suspects have confessed to their crimes and have also revealed that they had only benefitted the sum of 2-3million naira since the past three years of betting. One of the suspect (Folarin Tomisin) was contemplating suicide moments before his arrest due to the failed gambling addiction”.
He assured the people that both suspects will be charged to court at the conclusion of the investigation.
