The leadership of the Edo State House of Assembly has suspended three of its members.

Two of the suspended lawmakers are members of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), while one is a member of the All Progressives Congress (APC).

Those suspended are Bright Iyamu (PDP, Orhionmwon II State Constituency), Isibor Addeh Emankhu Isibor (APC, Esan North-East I) and Donald Okogbe Ojene (PDP, Akoko-Edo I).

The three lawmakers were suspended indefinitely at Monday plenary over their alleged attempt to change the House leadership without a cause, and allegedly bringing native doctors to the House to perform some sacrifice.

Speaking during plenary, the Speaker, Blessing Agbebaku, said the suspended members allegedly plotted to remove him and other principal officers of the Assembly.

He alleged that the three suspended members were being influenced by external forces to cause chaos and remove the leadership of the House.

Agbebaku also alleged that some persons brought native doctors into the house at midnight on Wednesday, May 1, 2024 to make some demonic incantations and dropped charms in the Assembly complex.

However, the suspension of the lawmakers resulted in a rowdy session in the House, as the suspended lawmakers accused the Speaker of not having the power to unilaterally suspend any member.
